In case you don't know (I didn't, until today!!), Bettie Page is the most famous and admired American pin-up model of the 1950's. She appeared in countless men's magazines (including Playboy), mail order photos, ads, paperback and album covers, and a few films and TV shows until 1957, when she withdrew from public life and seemed to vanish.
Her look, including her jet black hair and trademark bangs, has influenced many artists.

She was also one of the earliest Playmates of the Month for Playboy magazine. "I think that she was a remarkable lady, an iconic figure in pop culture who influenced sexuality, taste in fashion, someone who had a tremendous impact on our society,"[4] Playboy founder Hugh Hefner told the Associated Press. I have never seen any photo or movie starring the real Bettie Page before but one thing I can say is that Gretchen Mol gave an awesome performance - nudity-wise - in this movie. She possesses such a natural-born charm and sensuality it is a tremendous pleasure to watch her naked onscreen. Perhaps, like the real Bettie Page, Gretchen Mol is one of those women who, when they are nude, looks so at ease and natural that the notion of them ever wearing clothes seems alien. Nude, but not naked.

Not much of a story here: woman misses her flight, is forced to stay at a hotel. There, woman spies on a sexy stranger and his girlfriend. Woman is wet for the man and plays with herself. Later, woman and man has passionate sex. Hence the alternate English title: The Passionate Strangers. Man kills himself. Woman leaves. End of story.

Corinne Clery wore her hair short in this film. I liked it better when she had long hair.

Not very explicit nudity and sex but still worth watching if only because it's Corinne Clery.

Better late than never, here is the clip from the original cult hit, Histoire d'O (1975), the film that forever secured Corinne Clery a place in skin heaven. Too bad it's not as famous as Emmanuelle because it is every bit just as good. It's a story of bizarre love; of sexual submission and perversion. So yeah, there are tortures, bondage, humiliation and what not.

I have only re-discovered this film after watching Corinne Clery in Hitch-Hike. Like Emmanuelle, Histoire d'O spawned a lot of sequels and spin-offs. The sequel - Histoire d'O Chapitre 2 (already posted here) is also very good and worth a watch.
