This evening I actually sat down and watched The Limits of Control, the latest Jim Jarmusch. Can't say it's my favorite but I still liked it all the same. I mean, is there any Jim Jarmusch movie that I have seen and not liked?
There is not much going on in this film. A hitman, credited only as The Lone Man, travels around Spain in preparation for a hit. He likes looking at Paz de la Huerta's hot, naked body but doesn't actually have sex with her. No sex while working, that's his motto.
This simultaneously reminds of two things: Sergio Leon's The Man With No Name trilogy, in which Clint Eastwood is a man with no name who barely says a word, much like our Lone Man here. Richard Stark's Parker novels also come to mind. Parker is a professional criminal who has the habit of abstaining from sex when he is working a score. He is one of the coolest anti-heroes ever to feature in a novel or movie (the 1967 classic thriller, Point Blank was based on one of the Parker books. It was later remade as Payback, starring Mel Gibson). If you like crime fiction, this series is a must-read. On to more serious matters, namely: tits. We have some great nudity here. Paz de la Huerta, that 25 year old chick with the uber hot body is called Nude in the movie, which is only fitting because she is almost always sans-clothes here. What a visual delight!! The New York Times' review has this to say:
Along the way are a quotation from Arthur Rimbaud and several nods at Jean-Luc Godard, including a shot that frames Paz de la Huerta’s apple-cheeked derriére much the same way that the French filmmaker did Brigitte Bardot’s in “Contempt.”

Too bad the hitman is a man of great self-control who absolutely refuses to make proper use of that ass. Such person has my admiration. Lack of dick-control has landed me in serious troubles before and will still do so in the foreseeable future.
I still don't really get what the title means, but maybe it is something along the line of "You can't control what happens to you but you can control your attitude towards it." E.g: you can't control the natural hard-on that pops up when you look at a hot bare butt, but whether you harvest all the Chi around you and assault that butt with all your Kung-Fu power or you do nothing is within the limits of your control. Know what I am saying?
