Before Gladiator, there was The Arena, which was basically Spartacus with tits, starring the Queen of B movies, Pam Grier.
In ancient Rome, people have grown tired and bored with watching gladiators fight to the death. Much like movie viewers nowadays, ain't it? We are becoming desensitized to onscreen violence and gore, thanks to the likes of Saw, Hostel and Ninja Assassin. Anyway, back to the Romans. After a catfight between two female slaves, some sodomizing genius thought it would be a lot of fun to have chicks fight in the ring. So the slave chicks became gladiators. The Romans should have known better. Give women weapons and you are giving them ideas. It was only a matter of time before the slaves all turned into armed-and-dangerous feminist bitches, but not before they shed their clothes and showed their wares.
